Official invitation to the paradise… Kerkennah Islands – ( Part I )
Related to country: Tunisia

Kerkennah is, for me, the most beautiful spot I have ever seen. Here, I tried to give a brief description and some information about these islands.

Kerkennah is an archipelago, lying off the eastern coast of Tunisia; it’s about 20 km off the town of Sfax.

Once you are in Kerkennah, you can see that the archipelago is covered in palm trees, it is also known with figs and grapes. The islands are also famed for the seafood, especially, octopuses and indeed, at the little ports, you can see plenty of pottery jars used to catch them by luring them into a false sense of security.

During these few late years, Kerkennah has got more and more importance, either as one of the most wonderful natural places, which is captivating many tourists all around the world, or as a strategic point, either for it’s strategic location or for it’s valuable resources. I was there, last summer and I learned that a resident discovered golden blocs, which go back to many years ago and also, that some engineers have found natural gas while they were hollowing out. I heard many people talk about these discoveries, but I’m not officially sure about the information. So, if you’re planning to go there and “visit” Kerkennah, don’t forget your spade and shovel… who knows, may be you’ll find your treasure : ) !
